Where warmth meets metal, and tradition breathes through light.
HANYANGGUAN, Shanghai
As the brand’s first venture beyond Guangdong Province, Hanyangguan Shanghai interlaces the spirited essence of its birthplace, Shenzhen, with the culinary heritage of South Korea. Drawing from the Hanok, the traditional Korean home centered around an open courtyard, the design reinterprets its spirit of warmth and communal gathering.

Here, that logic is reimagined through a tilted galvanized-steel canopy that echoes the Hanok’s distinct roofline. Inside, soil-tinted cement finishes soften the metallic edge, grounding the space in tactile warmth. A central atrium floods the interior with natural light, contrasting with its shadowed periphery to create a rhythm of openness and enclosure.
Through this architectural homage, Hanyangguan Shanghai preserves the Hanok’s quiet intimacy while transforming it into a contemporary dialogue of light and shadow, inside and outside, tradition and modernity—a space where cultural threads intertwine to evoke both memory and discovery.
