Where movement becomes culture, and calm emerges from rhythm.
TaiHeXi, Hangzhou
Thailand stands at the intersection of modernity and tradition, where local warmth meets cosmopolitan openness. This project distills that duality into a single immersive environment—a place that unfolds like a Thai street, where scenes, activities, and familiar objects weave together into a vibrant cultural tapestry.
Inspired by the Maeklong Railway Market, where vendors rhythmically fold and unfold their stalls to the passing trains, the design captures a spirit of resilience and joy. This choreography of movement and adaptation becomes the project’s core language—spaces open and close, shift and reveal, echoing Thailand’s everyday vitality.

From the street-facing retail area to the intimate massage rooms beyond, the journey is conceived as a gradual retreat from urban pace to inner calm. The sequence—check-in, slippers, oil selection, foot bath—creates a ritual of transition, guiding visitors from the bustle of the city into a familiar rhythm of relaxation.
By reimagining the traditional massage parlor as an inclusive, design-forward social space, the project invites all generations to rediscover the warmth, generosity, and spontaneity that define Thai hospitality.
